Our Players are Community Leaders

The Saanich Predators management works together to develop our players’ skills, teamwork and overall character.  We connect with and give back to our community through volunteering, charitable events and giving players opportunities to develop their leadership skills through mentoring.

The Saanich Predators play with honour, using stealth, strength and teamwork to thrive against their opponents.

Our History

The Saanich Predators have a rich 50+ year history in the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League. We’re proud to have produced many players who have gone on to Canadian university, NCAA, and professional hockey. The Predators have become a team of choice for many young players following the growing tradition of the VIJHL, which is emerging as the premier development Jr. B league in B.C. The Predators have enthusiastic support in Saanich and the surrounding area. They attract thousands of fans every season to their games and enjoy tremendous fan loyalty.

A New Era

Our longstanding team name and logo, dating back to 1967, were changed from the Saanich Braves to the Saanich Predators in 2020. We were proud to be one of the first teams in North America to rebrand from a team name and image that depicted First Peoples and have continued to consult with teams across Canada to support their name change processes.
