Braves Honored With League MVP & Coach-of-the Year Awards

On Friday February 16th, the VIJHL President Barb Byrne attended the Braves home game to present league awards to two well deserving team members.
Saanich Braves bench boss Sam Waterfield was named the Eddie “The Storm” Kingston Trophy winner as ‘Coach of the Year’, this is a shared award with Nanaimo’s Head Coach Curtis Toneff.
The Jamie Benn MVP Trophy went to goaltender, Riley Mathieson. Mathieson! Riley posted a 2.60 GAA, .925 save percentage and an astonishing goals saved above average stat of just under 34.
