Crosstown rivals, the Victoria Cougars visited Pearkes Arena on Friday night to take on the Braves in a heated match-up.

The Braves opened Friday nights scoring when Scott Henderson redirected a shot from the point through traffic to sneak it by the Cougars netminder. After one period of play the Braves led this one, one to nothing.

The second period was extremely physical and it seemed as if the referees were letting the boys play it out. Big hits and scuffles from both sides all dominated the period. After a series of penalties from both teams towards the end of the period the Cougars mounted a push in the Braves zone which led to a goal with thirty seconds left in the period. After two periods of play the game was tied at one a piece.

Both teams were hungry to start the third period seeking that go ahead and potential game winning goal. Lots of bog chances both ways as pucks just ran wide or rang off the posts. Ultimately the Cougars pushed three on two and a Braves member interfered with Nick Gomerich of the Cougars awarding him a penalty shot. With a nifty move to the backhand he managed to sneak the puck five hole on Schiebel and that would be the deciding goal in this one. Braves lose this one 2-1.
