Braves Fall to Panthers in a Hard Fought Battle
The Saanich Braves were looking to bounce back after a tough loss Wednesday in tonight’s affair against the Panthers. Despite great effort and a few big chances the Braves just couldn’t get the bounces they needed.
The Panthers scored the lone goal in the first period batting in a rebound in front of the Braves net. The Panthers almost scored again later on in the period but the goal was waved off due to a high stick. After one period of play the score was 1-0 for the Panthers.
The Panthers scored again early in the second on a redirection from the point. Later on in the period the Braves had possession in their own zone but a missed pass gave the Panthers a breakaway chance which resulted in the games third goal. After two periods of play the score was 3-0 Panthers.
Cameron Kovesdi tried to regain some momentum scoring a goal in the third on a hustle play burying home a rebound on an open net. Despite a great effort by Evan Horvath to gain some momentum the Panthers scored again off a rebound to seal the win 4-1.
After tonight’s game Assistant Coach Sam McMullen had this to say about his team after tonight’s loss: “Well we are definitely frustrated, the last couple games haven’t gone our way. Frustration shows, gripping our sticks a little too tight in the scoring areas, hitting the goalie in the chest, in the pads, we weren’t putting it upstairs or past the goalie. We are confident in the group that we have and we know that tomorrow is a big game especially against these guys, another four point game again and they are ready to come out hard again tomorrow.”
The Braves next home game is Friday December 11th, Puck drop is 6:30
